Members of the Village

Dancing together we make a pattern that connects into a whole.

The choreography engagement of the East Coast Village (ECV) is made up of people and groups of people with identifiable roles, responsibilities, gifts, purposes and knowledge of certain energies and vibrations which they are able to access and use for the highest good of the community.

The ECV works to integrate the indigenous African spiritual technology with our responsibilities as a non profit organization. And together, the various spiritual and administrative aspects participate in choreographed engagement not only with each other, but with the external community.

We are use the term “choreography” instead of “structure” to create a mindset of reciprocal relationships where everyone makes an important contribution to the whole even while some roles and responsibilities may carry greater weight in one realm or the other.

Cultural Creatives and the East Coast Village

We consider ourselves a community of cultural creatives, people who "care deeply about ecology and saving the planet, about relationships, peace, social justice, and about self actualization, spirituality and self-expression."

Paul H. Ray and Sherry Ruth Anderson, The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People Are Changing the World.

Ready to go down the rabbit hole?

Being recognized as a Dagoma involves a rite of passage with specific commitments and the taking on of specific responsibilities along with an initiatory process culminating in a welcoming into the Village. Determine if you are ready:
1. Are you willing and able to be of service to the village i.e volunteer?
2. Are you willing and able to support the village financially (from a sliding scale to $60/yr)?
3. Are you willing and able to lend your voice to the decision-making process in matters concerning the Village?
4. And on a deeper level, are you interested in growing in the Dagara tradition i.e learning and using the technologies in your own personal life?

Dagoma Enrollment

Are you ready to take the journey on the Dagara-inspired way of walking the earth? Start here:

On being a Dagoma

What is Dagoma?

How do we define what it means to be a Dagoma?

It's a rite of passage, a lifestyle in which you choose the Dagara-inspired way of walking the earth, that is honoring the Ancestors and nature. We help you on the journey with:

Divination(s) to identify the gift(s) you bring to the Village, much like being born into the Dagara tradition
A Talisman related to your gift(s)
Access to the gatekeepers: Tingan, Dawera, Gniur
Deep teachings on the spirit technology of the Dagara
A public celebration of your initiation into the village
Mentorship and development of your gifts to help you fulfill your life purpose.

Rights of a Dagoma

For the Dagara, there is little separation between spiritual life and village life. Life in the in village involves spirit at every turn. And every villager empowers the community through active participation in day-to-day activities. As a Dagoma you have the right to:

Attend member-only events and rituals
Access scholarships and work trades
Vote on the annual AWBF budget
Vote for the election of officers to the Board
Be appointed to or chair select committees
Use ECV facilities for personal rituals
